Carvers Sponsor Darlington Mowden Park R.F.C

We are now proud sponsors of Darlington Mowden Rugby Club, home to The Northern Echo Arena. They currently play in National League 1 and we are thrilled to be part of the club as we are all great rugby fans. We have become involved with the club at a really exciting time, as the All Blacks prepare to use the club as a team base in the next few months during The Rugby World Cup.

Macmillan Coffee Morning

A huge thank you to our staff who baked and ate lots of yummy cakes for Macmillan Coffee morning. It was the 25th anniversary of the coffee morning and we managed to raise £75 for Macmillan cancer support. We had a delicious selection of savouries and sweets at HQ, which as you can imagine, were well received by all the staff. Thank you so much to all who donated - we are delighted to be able to donate this amount to a very worthy cause.

Congratulations to Julie and David Who Ran the Darlington 10k

Well done to Julie our financial advisor and David our Darlington branch manager who ran the Darlington 10k in under 1 hour. They did this to raise money for a great local charity, St Teresa Hospice. The hospice is an independent charity working across South Durham and North Yorkshire and they said 'We both felt a great sense of achievement after completing the run for this wonderful cause.'

Carvers Sponsor North Yorkshire/South Durham Premier League Cricket Teams

Having offices in all the towns of the major players in the North Yorkshire and South Durham cricket league, we couldn’t just pick one team to sponsor so we chose two! Richmondshire, who are currently champions of the Premier league and Northallerton whose kit we have sponsored for the next three years.

'The Carver Cake Off' for Comic Relief

We raised money for Comic Relief by doing a 'Wear a Wig Day' and 'The Carver Cake Off'! All the staff donated money to wear their wig and everyone looked brilliant. Five members of the team also took part in 'The Carver Cake Off' and raised money by selling cakes to their colleagues. We had some wonderful entries but the top spot went to Claire after a vote on Facebook and Twitter. The Carver Team managed to raise £70 for this wonderful cause, which will contribute towards Comic Relief projects throughout the world.

“My Recycled House” Art Competition

Carver Residential asked children to create a collage in the shape of a house which should be made from recycled materials only and entitled “MY RECYCLED HOUSE”. We offered £2,000 worth of prizes to be won for pupils and participating schools in the area. The work was judged by the world famous local artist Mackenzie Thorpe with finalists invited to view their art work on display in his Arthaus Gallery in Richmond.

Carver Staff Swim for a Great Cause

Following an article in The Northern Echo in January about Darlington man Ken Longstaff who was struck down with a rare neurological condition more than two years ago, leaving him 'locked in', we wanted to put our efforts into helping raise money to further his recover. Carver Residential took part in an organised swimming gala and had a team of staff competing in a 50 minute relay. They managed to swim a total of 104 lengths and came second in their relay. They each raised money to do this and the funds raised will go towards purchasing a specialist bike for Ken. The Carver Team managed to raise over £500 for this wonderful cause.

Carvers Christmas Jumper Day!

To help us get into the Christmas spirit and to help raise money for TFM radio's Cash For Kids, we had a Christmas Jumper Day! On 16th December all staff donned their festive woolies and donated £1 to help towards buying a gift for disadvantaged children to make their Christmas a little bit brighter. The day was a success with £65 being raised for the charity through the donations and through selling mince pies and Christmas cake within the company! With it being the season of goodwill Nick & Gordon have very generously matched the amount raised so altogether we were able to give a fantastic £130 to the charity.
